South Side Of The Synagogue
More about this track.

7th of Teves, December 16, hardcore Sagittarius, 603am
A boy with personal strength and a destiny
So they gave me the tag Etan G
I wasn't very shy
They'd soon find out that the Lord planned
For me to be mayor of the South Side
When I started school, I saw teachers making their own rules,
M & D gave me the tools, to spot the fools
Who don't stick to the deal, know how to feel
Weren't keeping the faith, weren't keeping it real
They tried too much to make a "mini me"
Could have developed my creativity, my personality
Instead they spent their time just dissin' me
While my mother shed tears while she was kissing me
Holding me tight, telling me things would be all right
As she prayed that I sit in G-ds house for the rest of my life and spread the light
From the south side

You'll never know what you did to me and my family, when you belittled me
But I overcame, I persevered, maybe now you'll hear my words very clear
You and your system failed me and those people like me
[On the south side]
Luckily, I got a family that loves me, plenty of money and most importantly
I got the good Lord above me
You used to say we were the youth gone wild
That's not apropos; you just didn't take the time to know,
The time to show us the right way so we did it on our own
Maybe you just couldn't see that the good Lord had breathed life into me too
But if it wasn't for the hell you put me through, I may never have seen the truth
That I don't have to be like you
So now during the daytime I got my leather straps
And at nighttime I got a mic for my raps
I got by with some help form my friends
It's all good, it's alright you can learn a lot so stop by
On the south side

You left me no choice, so I have to use my mind, my voice
And stand up for those you've annoyed, the lives you helped destroy
You might think its inconsequential
But each one of us has great potential
You coulda helped develop that spark, that soul
We coulda been a team, reached a common goal
Know what I mean, but no you decided to fly solo
I'm a rebel with a cause; I'll expose your flaws
And help you recognize the lives you lost
You had a chance to reach and teach so many
These people on the south side who have plenty
Of love, talent, intellect and high energy
Pride in who they are, a great connection to G-d
Who have dreams and that spark of infinity
So while we tried and tried, you lied and lied
Never had an open mind, or didn't find the time
So now for as long as I'm alive
I'll keep rollin' rollin' rollin' here on the south side
